“And I Will Tell My Grandson”

In 2009, with the support of the Yad Vashem National Remembrance Authority and the Ashdod Absorption Center, the Aish David Ashdod community of Russian-speaking Israelis launched a project under the name of “And I Will Tell My Grandson.” The project participants included teenagers between 14 and 18 years of age, IDF soldiers and Holocaust survivors. The project organized meetings between young participants and the veterans with conversations about the history of the Shoah, joint viewing of feature and documentary films about the Holocaust, visits to memorial sites, meetings with WWII veterans who are founders of the Ashdod Museum of Holocaust and Heroism, filming of a documentary and interviews with Holocaust survivors.
