Jews 2.0

Jews 2.0

Jews 2.0 is a project implemented by a group of young Jewish professionals with expertise in information technology (IT) and social media. The goal of the project is to teach IT and social media skills to members of small Jewish communities in the Kiev metropolitan area.

The project offered six training retreats in the cities of Bila Tserkva and Zhytomyr, which were attended by 35 people. Novice participants learned about media technologies and created their own websites, while more experienced participants received consultations from experts. After the training, participants continued to communicate with their colleagues in Kiev through social media sites.

This grant is a part of Grassroots annual competition, organized by Genesis Philanthropy Group and UJA-Federation of New York. The goal of the competition is to discover and support the best local initiatives aimed at the revival of Jewish identity, the preservation of cultural and historical heritage and the development of socially active Jewish communities.

Goals and Objectives

  • Increase the effectiveness of Jewish organizations in smaller communities of the Kiev metropolitan area by opening up opportunities in computer technologies and online communication.
  • Promote the project and select instructors and participants in a manner that attracts young adults, including IT and social media experts, to the life of the communities.
