KinoJET

KinoJET

KinoJET (Kino Jewish Educational Take-off) is an informal education project whose goal is to teach Jewish youth the art of film production.

A group of young professionals in the filmmaking industry offers a series of workshops for youth, teaching them basic cinematography and film-editing skills, and creating short films on Jewish topics. At the end of the workshops, KinoJET holds a competition for the best student film.

This grant is a part of Grassroots annual competition, organized by Genesis Philanthropy Group and UJA-Federation of New York. The goal of the competition is to discover and support the best local initiatives aimed at the revival of Jewish identity, the preservation of cultural and historical heritage and the development of socially active Jewish communities.

Goals and Objectives

  • Develop the creative potential of Jewish youth by teaching them the basics of film production.
  • Popularize Jewish values, traditions and culture through personal participation in the creation of films, video-based Midrashes, and educational video programs on Jewish subjects.
  • Select best films through competition and to enter the films into film festivals.
