Grants in the Former Soviet Union

MEOD Summer Recreation and Jewish Education

In 2015, Genesis Philanthropy Group awarded a grant to the Moscow Jewish Community House (MEOD) to organize educational and recreational summer activities for Jewish youth.

A program that combines lectures, excursions to Jewish sites including the Jewish museum and JCC, and master classes will be developed and organized for 25 children ages 9 to 17 by a group of professionals from various Moscow-based Jewish organizations.

Participants ages 14 to 17 will serve as volunteers to help the younger children, and will also participate in the School of Madrichim, which will be launched by MEOD after the completion of the summer program.

Goals and Objectives

  • Develop programming that incorporates Jewish education into popular recreational activities
  • Identify and recruit representatives of Moscow-based Jewish organizations for MEOD summer activities
  • Engage youth participants in the School of Madrichim
