Young Volunteers for Russia's Jewish Communities

Managing volunteers effectively is often the key to successful public educational, entertainment or other programs. Understanding the strategic importance of this resource, Genesis Philanthropy Group awarded a grant study youth volunteerism in Russia's Jewish communities, compile best practices and establish a society of young Russian Jewish volunteers.

The main event was a three-day forum for young Jewish volunteers from various Russian cities. The project, supported by the Genesis Philanthropy Group and the Russian Jewish Congress, was implemented by the St. Petersburg Jewish Welfare Center - Hesed Avraham.

Goals and Objectives

  • Strengthen Jewish communities by developing a volunteer movement and engaging community activists.
  • Attract more young people from different Russian cities to existing volunteer groups.
  • Share experience and to develop best models of volunteerism that are attractive to today's Jewish youth.
  • Create a cadre of young activists who will propagate the ideals of volunteer service in the Jewish community.
