Building Pluralistic Jewish Leadership among Russian Speaking New Immigrants

Building Pluralistic Jewish Leadership among Russian Speaking New Immigrants

This project is organized by the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism organized for new immigrants from the FSU and for those who wish to learn about Judaism, Israel and Jewish culture.

The program offers four seminars to a total of 40 participants. Seminars are dedicated to the major Jewish holidays and include educational tours to various regions of Israel. In addition, the seminars provide an opportunity to discuss issues of Jewish identity, changing attitudes toward Jewish values following immigration and issues concerning Israeli culture.

Goals and Objectives

  • Develop leadership qualities in Russian-speaking young adults who are new immigrants in Israel.
  • Assist young Russian-speaking Israelis who participated in Progressive Judaism communities in the FSU to gain Jewish and Israeli experience.
  • Give new immigrants an opportunity to participate in Israeli public life.
