Grants in Israel



Meitar is a non-denominational and non-political Russian-speaking cultural and educational center, which focuses on the study of Judaism as a world culture and a civilization that is comprised of a variety of components, including religion, traditions and a unique way of life.

Meitar-Ashkelon is a local cultural and educational center in the city of Ashkelon, which was established on the grounds of Meitar in 2004.

When Meitar ceased to exist in 2009, Meitar-Ashkelon reworked its goals and activities.

Genesis Philanthropy Group supported a number of Meitar-Ashkelon projects during this difficult period:

  • Cultural Ulpan;
  • The Tree of Knowledge;
  • Celebration of Jewish Holidays;
  • Youth Leadership Program.

Goals and Objectives 

  • Establish and support a Russian-speaking community in Ashkelon.
  • Support Russian-speaking Israelis in overcoming cultural isolation.
  • Encourage Russian-speaking Israelis to develop a deeper understanding of social processes taking place in the State of Israel and their sense of belonging and social responsibility.
