Chicago Federation Russian Jewish Division

Chicago Federation Russian Jewish Division

The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF/JF) is one of the largest not-for-profit institutions in Illinois and the central address of Chicago's Jewish community.

Genesis Philanthropy Group proudly supports the Russian Jewish Division (RJD) of the JUF/JF, which is designed to allow Russian-speaking Jews to connect with their Jewish identities and each other.

During 2011, RJD programs focused on volunteering, community involvement, Israel education, and professional and social networking. Events included a community gathering for a screening of the documentary film Refusenik, a Victory Day celebration, and a Purim masquerade ball.

In 2013-2015, the project expanded to include leadership development projects, young families engagement initiatives, student outreach program, and volunteer initiatives. Some examples of these programs include an RJD advisory board and a giving circle, festive community holiday celebrations, PJ Library play dates, a weekend family retreat, and the Tikkun Fellowship, which provides mini-grants to support programming envisioned and designed by Russian-speaking Jewish young adults, thus putting them in leadership roles within their community.

Financial support for this program is provided by Genesis Philanthropy Group along with The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, and other donors.
