The Jewish Community Center Association: Outreach to Russian-speaking Jewish Campers
The JCC Association is the continental umbrella organization for the Jewish Community Center Movement, which includes more than 350 JCCs, YM-YWHAs, and camp sites in the U.S. and Canada. GPG's grant to the JCCA allowed 4 Jewish sleep-away summer camps (in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, and Los Angeles) to recruit up to 55 first-time Russian-speaking Jewish campers in the summer of 2008. In addition to providing 2/3 of each Russian-speaking Jew's camp tuition, GPG funding covered training for camp directors about culturally appropriate and effective methods for working with Russian-speaking Jewish families. Initiated in partnership with the Foundation for Jewish Camp, this grant was a pilot for GPG in the field of Jewish summer camp in North America.

Grant period: 2008
