JIAS CANADA
In 2009, Genesis Philanthropy Group supported a leadership development project by Jewish Immigrant Aid Services (JIAS) of Canada.
This grant provided support to JIAS Canada in shaping and building the Jewish community of Canada by designing and piloting a lay-leadership development program.
As part of the program, JIAS:
- Hired consultants and used local resources to develop a curriculum;
- Implemented a ”Train the Trainer” session for leaders of host agencies;
- Implemented the Leadership Development Training Program for 10–15 participants in each of three cities: Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver.
The project expects that after completing the training, program graduates will take on leadership roles in their communities or will form and lead new community organizations.
The project was supported by Genesis Philanthropy Group and a number of private Jewish philanthropists.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE GRANT
- To develop and implement a program that offers leadership training to Russian-speaking Jews in Canada;
- To facilitate the long-term integration of Russian speakers in the Jewish communities of Canada.
