JIAS: Decade-Plus Immigrants
The Decade-Plus Immigrants: Leadership Bridging Cultures project (Decade-Plus) is a pilot project designed to address the longer-term integration needs of Russian-speaking immigrants in Canada, with an emphasis on developing and enhancing their Jewish identity. Initiated by Jewish Immigrant Aid Services of Canada (JIAS Canada) and its partner agencies, Jewish Family Services (JFS) across Canada, the project is being piloted in three cities; Ottawa, Ontario; Calgary, Alberta; and Vancouver, British Columbia. The program offers community leaders & organizational staff the opportunity to explore the challenges faced by Decade-Plus immigrants and brings these groups together through an educational & cultural exchange that is multi-dimensional, hands-on and interactive. The main focus of the program is an internship and/or mentorship partnership with individuals in various Jewish community organizations.
