The Keitar Ashdod Community
Keitar-an independent, lay-led community of Russian-speaking Jews in Ashdod - was founded in 2002, with assistance from the New Israel Fund and from Meitar.
Today, there are over 250 families involved. GPG funding supports:
- Families on the Road is series of field trips around Israel with a focus on historic war sites
- Women's Club focuses on programming around Jewish traditions and family values
- Jewish Circle, an educational program for RSJ families that focuses on the Jewish calendar and dates in Jewish history. The initiative includes trips, lectures, community events, and workshops around the Jewish holidays.
This grant represents GPG's support for informal education as an effective tool for engaging Russian-speaking Jews, as well as the foundation's investment in family education.
