Taglit/birthright Israel
Started in 2000, Taglit-birthright Israel has brought almost 200,000 young Jews to Israel. In the past eight years. Of these, approximately 8,500 were Jews from the FSU, with annual participation now running at 3,000. Hundreds of Russian-speaking Jews from North America and Germany also come on Taglit trips each year.
Genesis support has allowed birthright Israel to improve programming for Russian-speaking groups by adding content and site visits that are more relevant to the experience of Russian Jewry; creating a more professional training program for Russian-speaking Jewish madrichim (counselors); and improving the process by which Russian-speaking IDF soldiers are chosen to join the birthright groups.
This project allows Genesis to partner with leading philanthropists on a transformative program that has proven to be one of the most successful tools for increasing Jewish identity among young adults, and to ensure that birthright Israel as an organization focuses its energy on ensuring program excellence for its Russian-speaking audience.
