LimmudLA

LimmudLA is an independent, grassroots organization that brings together Jews of all ages and backgrounds in Los Angeles to celebrate Jewish learning, arts, and culture over the course of a 4-day learning conference. GPG funding allowed LimmudLA to conduct targeted outreach in the Russian-speaking Jewish community of LA, which resulted in having 32 Russian-speaking Jewish participants at the inaugural 2008 conference, and twice as many in 2009. In addition, LimmudLA developed numerous sessions relating to Russian-speakers' Jewish experience. This grant represents GPG's first attempt at seeding an initiative in California, whose Russian-speaking Jewish community is estimated at over 100,000.
