Ilia was born in the former Soviet Union and immigrated to the United States as a young adult. An unabashedly proud Zionist, American, and Russian-speaking Jew, Ilia weaved these identities into his life’s purpose and legacy. We could think of no better person to speak about Ilia, his friendship and his legacy than with one of his heroes, Natan Sharansky.
